 Youth Speech Tournament (Grades K–8)

 

Calling for Future Confident Leaders

Give your child a real stage experience in a structured, encouraging environment.
This beginner-friendly speech & debate tournament helps students build confidence, organize ideas, and present clearly — while having fun and feeling proud of their voice.

Perfect for beginners and returning students who want guided practice and real speaking experience.

Who: Grades K–8 (all experience levels welcome)

Students will be grouped by grade level (K–2, 3–5, 6–8) for an age-appropriate and supportive experience.


When: Saturday, June 13, 2026

9:30 AM – 12:30 PM (3-hour event)
 

Where: Everlove Academy Factoria Campus
12700 SE 32nd St, Bellevue, WA 98005


Fee: $45 per student

Includes instruction, tournament participation, coaching, and medal awards. Spots are filled quickly. Early registration recommended.

For Current Weekend Students:
Participation is included at no additional cost. Please inform your teacher if your child will attend.

Event Details

This tournament includes two parts:

1. Prepared Speech — Required for all K–8 students
All students will participate in a prepared speech round. Age-appropriate speech topics will be emailed to families one week before the tournament. Students should prepare their speeches at home before the event.

 

2. SPAR Debate — Optional for Grades 3–8
SPAR Debate is optional and is only for students in Grades 3–8 with prior debate experience, such as students who have taken Everlove Academy debate classes.

During registration, families can choose whether their child will participate in the debate portion.

During the event, students will:

  • Warm-up & confidence-building speaking activities

  • Participate in age-appropriate speaking rounds

  • Present a prepared speech on stage

  • Build confidence speaking in front of an audience

  • Receive professional judge or instructor feedback

  • Receive recognition for their effort and growth

  • Optional: participate in SPAR Debate, if registered and eligible

Final Showcase for Families:
Selected finalists will present in a short final showcase at the end of the event.

** Finalist Summer Camp Prize:
Each finalist will receive one free regular week of Everlove Academy 2026 Summer Camp. Extended care is not included. The prize may be redeemed for selected available camp weeks only. Please note that the summer camp is designed for K–5 students. The camp award will be presented together with the finalist medal at the tournament.

FAQ

  • Do students need to prepare a speech in advance?

Yes. All students will participate in the Prepared Speech portion. Speech topics will be emailed to families one week before the tournament, and students should prepare their speech at home.

  • Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes, for the Prepared Speech portion. All K–8 students are welcome to participate.

The SPAR Debate portion is optional and is recommended for students in Grades 3–8 who already have some debate experience.

  • What is SPAR Debate?

SPAR stands for Spontaneous Argumentation. It is an impromptu debate format. Students receive a topic during the event, have a short preparation time, and then present arguments in a structured debate round.

  • Who can participate in SPAR Debate?

SPAR Debate is open to students in Grades 3–8 with prior debate experience. It is especially suitable for students who have taken Everlove Academy debate classes.

  • My child is shy — is this a good fit?

Yes. We keep the environment supportive and structured. Coaches help students build confidence step-by-step.

  • How will students be grouped?

Students will be grouped by grade bands (e.g., K–2, 3–5, 6–8) depending on enrollment.

  • Can families watch?

Families and friends are welcome to attend and observe the entire event, including the final showcase.

  • What time should we arrive?

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in. Exact check-in instructions will be emailed before the event.

  • What if we cannot attend after registering?

Full refund available if canceled 5 days before event. 

  • Will there be food?

No meal is provided. Please bring a water bottle. (A light snack is optional if you’d like to allow it.)
